Frequently Asked Questions
Here are more answers to some of our most common questions.
What makes San Diego diving so physically demanding?
California shore diving is in itself a physically demanding activity more than most tropical locations because of lower visibility, colder water, higher surge, and a trickier entry and exits.
The famous cove entry point specifically stands beneath a set of 50 stairs which will be required to walk up and down each dive to get to our entry and exit (in full gear).
A 5-10 minute surface swim is required to swim to enough depth to begin our dive. Each dive last around 50 minutes. These are some of the reasons that La Jolla Cove is such a physically demanding dive site.
We suggest doing a single tank or going on a boat tour if you are not in physical condition to do this shore dive.
** If you have any injuries, pre-existing medical conditions or recent surgeries, you may want to consult your doctor to make sure that you are fit to dive.
Do you offer Discover Scuba Courses or Scuba Classes?
If it's on the calendar; yes. If not; no.
For non- certified divers who are interested in getting into the sport, you will have to be certified to do our tours.

Any Discover Scuba Courses we have available will be online if they are available. If none are listed on our calendar, we have none scheduled.

Any Scuba Courses that we have available will be online if they are available. If none are listed on our calendar, then we have none scheduled.
Do you offer other meetup times other than 7am or sunset?
No. Unfortunately our dive sites are all at highly trafficked and desireable locations. Due to the logistics of parking we do not offer scuba tours other than at 7am for the day dives, and sunset for the night dives.
Do you offer rental gear? How much are your tours and gear pricing?
Yes. We only offer rental gear with one of our tours. We do not offer gear rentals for divers to go and take out on their own.

Rental gear you can book online before you checkout. Gear rentals you reserve will be brought directly to the dive site. Pricing varies, full rentals ~ $65 for full rental with several a la carte options for less.
